Deaf Blind and Multiple Disabilities

Volunteers of America Texas is a certified provider participating in the Deaf-Blind with Multiple Disabilities (DBMD) Program. This program offers home and community-based services to persons aged 18 and over who are deaf and blind with multiple disabilities. The DBMD program is funded by Title XIX (Medicaid) through a waiver that allows the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to provide services that are not available under the regular Medicaid program.

The goal of the program is to provide participating individuals a choice of services and supports that maximize independence, communication, and interaction with the community.

This waiver program will promote the participant’s active involvement and choices regarding services provided.
