Dallas Substance Abuse

Dallas Substance Abuse Prevention Project & Intervention Programs provide prevention services to schools in Lancaster and Dallas Independent School Districts. This project is supported by the principals of the target schools, and is carried out in collaboration with school administration and staff. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk level for substance abuse among children at these schools, by developing and/or enhancing protective factors that will strengthen their overall resistance to drugs. The program serves approximately 800 youth per year. The program utilizes both curriculum-based support groups and individual case management to provide prevention and intervention services.

* Youth who participated in the Positive Action program had an average of 16% increase in the areas of academic achievement and pro-social skills after successfully completing the program.
