    Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Jeff's Story

    Jeff was looking for a place that encouraged his independence. Living with a developmental disability, Williams Syndrome, Jeff found a place to call home in one of our group homes, located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Jeff is employed and says he loves living with friends who have so much in common with him.

    Supportive Services for Veteran Families

    Volunteers of America Texas offers housing stabilization services to veterans and their families who are homeless or facing homelessness in the south central Texas region. With a recent funding award from the Department of Veterans Affairs, this newly implemented service is designed to help veterans’ families get back on their feet. We help veteran’s families identify housing and linkages to needed services so that families experience the safety of housing and economic self-sufficiency.

    VOA Texas is proud to serve Houston area veterans by offering case management, assistance in accessing benefits and services, career counseling, job readiness workshops, job placement assistance, vocational training and a computer resource center.

    Resolana

    Resolana, a program of Volunteers of America Texas, provides gender-specific programming to female offenders, beginning inside the Dallas County Jail and continuing through their re-entry into the community. Our goals are to increase readiness for change on the inside, to increase use of existing community resources on the outside and to reduce recidivism.

    Our addiction treatment and recovery programs address not only the addiction itself, but also issues like poverty, homelessness and abuse that arise from chemical dependency. We are committed to helping clients gain sure footing in sobriety so that they can reclaim what was lost and become productive members of their families and society.

    MINT is a special program for female offenders who come to the Federal Bureau of Prisons expecting to deliver a child. Non-violent offenders who would not be considered a risk to abscond are eligible to become clients of the program.

    Dallas Morning News

    The Women of Resolana Put on 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever'

    The Volunteers of America Texas Resolana program was featured in the Dallas Morning News. Resolana provides gender-specific programming to female offenders, beginning inside the Dallas County Jail and continuing through re-entry into the community. Female inmates opt into the program and perform an annual Christmas program in front of an audience made up of donors, volunteers, jail staff and city officials.
