Community Enhancement

Volunteers of America Texas' programs are community-based. Our employees, clients, volunteers, and donors are part of communities too.

Special Events

"I Remember Mama" in DFW, Houston, and Kerrville, is a Mother's Day luncheon for senior ladies who would otherwise be alone. Ladies come from senior living facilities, churches, community centers, and other service organizations. A lovely 3 course meal with entertainment and companionship bring our ladies in their best dresses and Sunday hats.

"Caring Gifts for the Holidays" provides gifts for seniors, children, foster teens, and group home residents during Christmas. Volunteer of America Texas accepts gifts and donations from individuals and businesses, allowing employees to participate in a charitable activity that remains in their neighborhoods.

"Days of Caring", sponsored by the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, is responsible for many upgrades to our facilities in the Houston area. Fences, patios, swing sets, and stairways have been built. Kitchens have been remodeled and entire buildings have been repainted.
