We have been providing continuous residential services for individuals with mental retardation since 1986. Both adults and adolescents are served in separate group homes. Each home houses four to six residents, and is located in a residential neighborhood. A variety of accomodations and services are available, based on individual need.
The residents attend public school, pre-vocational or vocational programs as part of their individual program plan. Health services are provided by licensed nurses. Training programs are structured around individual needs and small group participation. Professional staff includes QMRP's, psychologists, behavior specialists, occupational and physical therapists, audiologists, and speech therapists. Physicians specializing in neurology, orthopedics, psychiatry, and dentistry are available to monitor and provide treatment. Both ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental retardation are eligible for admission.
Funding is provided by the state through the Medicaid system. Each home is inspected and licensed by the Texas Department of Health.
