Unique Christmas Tree
“Christmas is kind of a bummer for a lot of people, so I thought this would cheer them up.”George Fry, Harvestwood Apartments Resident
George Fry has called Harvestwood Apartments in The Woodlands, TX home since 2013. His collection of handcrafted Christmas village buildings and figurines began nearly 25 years ago.
Construction was his trade before he retired, but before he could rest, there was one more project left to build. “I designed the tree idea about eight years ago but it never quite came to fruition,” however, George said this year was different.
Stay at home orders, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, afforded George the time he needed to draw up the perfect plan. The entire project took about three weeks to build. “It was something I enjoyed doing although, physically I’m not as capable as I was,” George admitted.
His main goal for the project was to spread cheer towards the end of what most would agree has been a challenging year. “Christmas is kind of a bummer for a lot of people, so I thought this would cheer them up.”
He said the time and effort was well worth it, knowing that the tree lights up the common area and the faces of those who pass through it.
