Home Depot Helps VOA Texas Veteran

On Friday, November 13th volunteers from the a Houston Home Depot store donated $1,000 worth of supplies and nearly 100 volunteer hours to beautify the home of United States Marine Corps Veteran, William Victorian. Mr. Victorian previously benefitted from the VOA Texas Veteran Home Repair program following Hurricane Harvey where VOA Texas performed repairs to the inside of his home.

This time, due to precautions taken in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers were not able to go inside. However, they were able to improve the curb appeal just in time for the upcoming holidays.

Volunteers painted the exterior, mowed the lawn, repainted the deck at the back of the home and trimmed the hedges. He said following family emergencies and natural disasters, the repairs seemed to overwhelm him.

“Too many times veterans don’t get the recognition they deserve. But I am so happy that Home Depot sent volunteers to work on the house,” Victorian said.

And ahead of Thanksgiving, Mr. Victorian stands grateful for the time volunteers spent to make his house a home.
