Volunteers Raise More than $42K for Resolana

Bound and determined, a group of Resolana volunteers came together to help the program in a different way. While they usually spend hours on end volunteering at the Dallas County Jail and mentoring Resolana women who are no longer incarcerated, they picked up another hat to fund raise for the Volunteers of America Texas women's reentry program.

After only a few months of planning, the team raised more than $42,000 at the Resolana Giving Second Chances event. Several items were donated which made for a successful fundraiser — food, beverages, the venue and silent auction items were given for the cause. The amount includes a matching donation of $15,000 awarded from the Turning Point Foundation.

The event took place in the Dallas design district with a beautiful view of an infinity pool overlooking downtown Dallas. Guests were able to experience the life of Resolana women by reading cards which explained their past, present and future. They also heard the firsthand account of a former Resolana woman, Teresa Marsh, who is now a great example of the positive impact the program has on women in and out of the jail.

Some of the donated auction items included, tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game, a photography session, a spa appointment, and original art work by long time Resolana supporter Susie Carter.
