This Veterans Day – Take a Shift

THIS VETERANS DAY

They kept the watch.
Now we keep faith.

Stand watch for a Texas veteran facing a hard season on their own.

ONE VETERAN’S STORY

Every veteran made a promise and kept it.

Most come home and build good lives. But one job loss, one medical bill, or one family emergency can bring a life built over years to the edge in a matter of weeks.

That was David’s story. After 18 years of service in the Army, he returned home safely and built a beautiful life. Then his wife lost her job after 17 years. With little to no savings or support, things got tough, fast. David knew they needed help or they would end up on the street. But he didn’t know where to turn.

Thankfully, he could turn to people like you, who lifted him and his family toward stability. Someone kept faith with him.

VOA TEXAS STANDS WATCH

Their service ended.
Our duty didn’t.

Last year alone, we walked alongside 903 veterans: helping 620 find training and work, repairing veterans’ homes, and offering safe, affordable homes in 23 communities across Texas. Over the past six years, we’ve answered the call more than 5,500 times.

“We’ve never treated it as charity. We treat it as a debt of honor.”
