At the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) we can help you gain financial stability – for good. Using a proven, research-based curriculum, we will empower you with critical skills and tools. Beyond employment, the FOC can help you map a path to financial stability.
The Independence Heights Financial Opportunity Center in Houston is supported by LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) and the United Way THRIVE collaboration. It offers various employment services, financial education, and planning support that helps individuals improve their financial knowledge and health.

The Financial Opportunity Center offers many bundled services in three core areas: increased wages, improved finances, and access to public benefits.
Financial Coaching
Participants will engage in financial literacy workshops and receive one-on-one financial coaching. The program also includes access to savings and credit-building products through partner banks and credit unions.
Employment Services
Participants will receive one-on-one employment coaching. Services include resume assistance, mock interviews, job placement assistance, and job retention support.
Income Supports
Participants will receive benefit screening services, benefit application assistance, and linkages to community services related to food, clothing, etc.
