Senior Citizens Dance the Night Away at “Senior” Prom

JUNE 23RD, 2023

(DALLAS, TX) JUNE 23, 2023—More than two dozen senior citizens who live in the Volunteers of America Texas Prairie Creek Housing Apartment complex had a funky good time at their “Senior” Prom Thursday evening. The 70s-themed dance, sponsored by Amazon, included hit songs from the era.

“The music, it was awesome. It was definitely a throwback to my youth,” said Burrel Robertson. The Prairie Creek resident of one year added, “Dancing was fun. I hadn’t danced like that in years and couldn’t stay seated. I tried, but I couldn’t. I had to get up and dance.”

Of course, every 70s party is complete with a Soul Train line. In themed attire, residents formed two parallel lines and danced one by one down the middle.

Robertson said, “I had a wonderful time tonight. It was good to eat, wonderful music, and wonderful company.”

Prairie Creek Apartments is one of 40 housing sites owned and operated by VOA Texas throughout the state of Texas and one of four housing sites, for people aged 62 and older, in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
