Amazon Celebrates National Volunteer Week with Volunteers of America Texas
(DALLAS, TX) APRIL 17, 2023 — Seniors at the Volunteers of America (VOA) Texas Prairie Creek Apartment complex, proved they can play more than BINGO. The residents aged 62 and older took part in challenges that are popular amongst the Tik Tok generation – bottle flip, table tennis cup toss, chopstick marshmallow challenge, and the cup tower challenge. The group also enjoyed the great outdoors by playing yard games such as corn hole, ring toss, yard dice and bowling.
The unconventional game day was sponsored at facilitated by volunteers with Amazon as they celebrated National Volunteer Week.
Last year, nearly 400 volunteers with companies like Amazon donated 7,000 hours of service to VOA Texas, an estimated value of $200,000.
VOA Texas believes giving back isn’t only beneficial to the volunteer as an individual, it has a great impact on the organizations as well. When people lend their time and talents it allows the organization to reallocate its financial resources to other areas where it’s most needed while providing invaluable experiences to those in need.
