Supportive Services for Veteran Families

Volunteers of America Texas offers housing stabilization services to veterans and their families who are homeless or facing homelessness in the south central Texas region. With a recent funding award from the Department of Veterans Affairs, this newly implemented service is designed to help veterans’ families get back on their feet. We help veteran’s families identify housing and linkages to needed services so that families experience the safety of housing and economic self-sufficiency.  

Who's eligible?

  • Veterans and their families
  • Very low income: 50% or below of area median income determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • Living in south central Texas: Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Gillespie, Gonzalez, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Kerr and Williamson counties
  • Homeless or near homeless: must be residing in shelter, streets or in danger of losing housing

Services include:

  • Housing counseling
  • Housing search
  • Financial counseling and planning
  • Linkages to needed services
  • Transportation assistance
  • Short-term rent/utility assistance
  • Security deposit assistance
  • Emergency supplies
