The VOA Texas Substance abuse prevention program works with at-risk youth through school-based curricula, to educate them about the dangers of substance abuse, improve their communications with parents and empower them to make positive choices when faced with pressure from peers.
VOA Texas is part of a national organization that provides substance abuse prevention education and alternative activities for youth and adults throughout Tarrant County and surrounding areas. Last year nearly 1,200 individuals were supported through our two programs, the Positive Action (PA) program and the Strengthening Families Program (SFP).
The annual back to school event is in collaboration with the City of Fort Worth, Sycamore Community Center. Additionally, Texas Health and Human Services and Union Home Mortgage supplied more than 500 back packs and school supplies for the event.
